Rating: - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
I bought this thinking how cool it would be to use our brand new kitchen aid to make ice cream and that I would use this all the time and that was almost 2 years ago and I have only used it once! For one thing it takes an extensive amount of time to prepare the unit to use it. You have to put the bowl in the freezer (if you have room that is) for at least 12 hours to allow the bowl to be clear and than you can install it on your Kitchen Aid and you let it run for about 15 min than its back into ... Rating: - Best IceCream Maker Ever!
I read the reviews of this product and almost didn't buy it. But, don't be mislead -- this is the best ice cream maker we have ever used. Twenty odd years ago we had a salt based hand cranked ice cream maker which we traded for an electric salt-based model. Then we bought a Rival--worked well, but we had to rig extension cords to keep it in the freezer while we made ice cream.
Using the French Vanilla recipe in the instructions, we just made the best ice cream ever with the lowest input of labor. ... Read More
Rating: - I scream! You scream! Home-made Ice Cream!
I have wanted to make some home-made ice cream for awhile. It was something my Grandparents used to do in the summertime, and I always really loved it. After recently buying the KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, getting this attachment was a no-brainer.
It took me awhile to get the hang of this. First off, the attachment doesn't "click on" like the bread hook, but is held in place by the pressure between the mixer and the bowl. The instructions didn't make this clear, and there are ... Read More
Rating: - Great icecream maker, but a little small
This is a great device for making frozen treats fast! I've made ice cream several times already, and it is always delicious. The only drawback is that the freezer container is a little small. Stick to the recommended ingredient amounts and you'll be fine... overfill and the ice cream will not combine properly, and you'll have some icy bits. Still delicious, but the texture will be lacking noticeably. Overall an excellent device for making enough ice cream at one time for 5 or 6 diners.
Rating: - This ice cream attachment is awesome!
This ice cream maker is fantastic. My first batch was a 2 gallon batch, which is the full capacity of the bowl - it didn't freeze as well since it expanded as it froze and was above the top of the bowl! I recommend doing a 1 gallon batch. It quickly freezes to the consistency of soft-serve. If you like hard ice cream, you'll want to put it in the freezer for 1-2 hours before you eat it. What fun this is a such a great product!
